“Pixel Collective,” a multimedia art collective based in Finland and Japan, is releasing its second music video, following its previous work, “=42.”

The theme of this new video is “Living Architecture.” Drawing inspiration from a space called “Nodo Souko” in Kamejima, Nagoya, the collective has blended elements of video, media, and music to create a unified work of art.

Drawing on works such as Jun’ichirō Tanizaki’s In Praise of Shadows, the collective drew inspiration from the beauty of light and shadow and the subtle atmosphere inherent in the building, with each member constructing their own unique interpretation. The shoot featured guest appearances from musician marucoporoporo and dancers Kuniko Namba and Yuri Inagaki.

Much like the “Cadavre exquis” technique experimented with by artists in the mid-1920s, please enjoy this organic world of expression that emerges from the interweaving of individual perspectives and an unexpected balance.

In addition to the screening of the main film, the event will feature an exhibition of behind-the-scenes snapshots by photographer Akira Inoue, an improvised live music performance by ambient musicians, and a talk event with members of the collective.
